National Journal's series “The Ukrainian Exodus” explores how refugees are settling into Poland over half a year after Russia’s brutal invasion of their country. Around 1.4 million Ukrainians have moved to Poland and registered for a social-security number since the start of the war, the largest number in all of Europe. These reluctant refugees have changed the face of the country’s major cities and altered hundreds of years of Polish-Ukrainian relations. But they’re also grappling with the uncertainty of their futures and making difficult decisions about whether to stay in Poland permanently or try to one day return home. Foreign policy and defense correspondent Cristina Maza brings you their stories from across Poland.
