Alexander releases internal poll showing 69 percent approval rating among GOP primary voters.

Sen. Lamar Al­ex­an­der (R) re­leased a new in­tern­al poll (North Star Opin­ion Re­search (R); 600 GOP primary LVs; Aug. 19-22; +/- 4%) show­ing him with a 69-24% per­cent ap­prov­al rat­ing among GOP primary voters. The sur­vey shows Al­ex­an­der lead­ing state Sen. Joe Carr (R), 64-22%; Knox County May­or Tim Burchett (R), who is con­sid­er­ing a run, 62-23%; at­tor­ney/former Wil­li­am­son County GOP chair Kev­in Kooko­gey (R), an­oth­er po­ten­tial, 69-15% and an­nounced can­did­ate Brenda Lenard (R), 69-16%. Al­ex­an­der is once again show­ing he isn’t tak­ing the threat of a primary lightly. The in­tern­al poll fol­lows a new ra­dio ad Al­ex­an­der re­leased over the week­end and comes as the sen­at­or amps up his fun­drais­ing ef­forts.
