Gov. Matt Bevin (R) “on Thursday pledged he will soon file his paperwork to run for re-election. Bevin made the pledge to a group of reporters in Frankfort as rumors swirled he may not run. … He has until the deadline of Jan. 29.”

Bevin: “I said I’ll do it by the 29th of January. It is still absolutely my intention, I’ll run again. … I'm the governor of Kentucky, that's my focus, not paperwork. I will do it."

“Bevin still hasn't picked a running mate. He said on Thursday he's still discussing with Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton whether to run together again. Tea party groups have urged Bevin to keep Hampton on the ticket or risk losing their support.”

Bevin: “She and I have had many conversations on this. It involves two people's thoughts on this. Both her's and mine. What does she want to do? What do I want to do? What do we together and separately want to do over the next four years?" (Cincinnati Enquirer)
