Former Detroit Health Director Abdul El-Sayed (D) on Tuesday “submitted over 24,000 signatures to the Michigan Secretary of State to qualify for the Democratic Primary election ballot,” making him “the first candidate in the Democratic field to submit the necessary signatures to qualify for the ballot.” (release)

“The signatures were ‘scrubbed and verified’ to ensure validity and ‘collected by love,’ according to El-Sayed, who [said] his campaign has 2,500 active volunteers and 300 interns across every major college campus in the state.” (Detroit News)
