State Treasurer Dan Schwartz (R) released an attack ad aimed at state Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R). The ad leads with a quote calling Laxalt an “empty suit,” adding that “Adam Laxalt answers few questions and offers no solutions, he’s taken money from about every lobbyist and casino in town. He can’t provide the adult leadership Nevadans deserve.” (Breitbart)
WAR OF WORDS. Schwartz is being accused of belittling Laxalt’s military service. In an open letter, Lyon County Commissioner Ken Gray recalled a comment Schwartz made comparing his and Laxalt’s military service, saying Laxalt “carried a briefcase” while Schwartz carried an M16. Laxalt served as a Navy lawyer in Afghanistan and Iraq. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
ON THE RECORD. The state Democratic Party has filed a public records request for any communication between Laxalt’s office and the NRA and its lobbyists throughout his tenure.
Helen Kalla, a spokesperson for the Nevada State Democratic Party said in a statement, “Nevadans deserve to know if a man who hopes to be their governor is taking his cues from special interests.” (release)
Correction: This post mistakenly attributed the Dan Schwartz ad to a super PAC supporting him. The ad was in fact from his campaign.
