Physician Jim Hines (R) will launch his first TV spot on Sunday. The 30-second ad, which portrays him as a political outsider and a “fighter,” “will begin broadcasting in all major Michigan markets Super Bowl Sunday on the Chris Wallace show ‘Fox News Sunday.’”

The narrator closes: “It’s time to put career politicians out to pasture. Because the doctor is in.” (release)

Former FEC Chairman Robert Lenhard vouched for former Detroit health director Abdul El-Sayed’s (D) residency: “He has been a property owner, a taxpayer, a registered voter and a resident of Michigan throughout the qualifying period under State law. Michigan law has never held that absences from the state for school or work cause you to lose your residence. This issue is just a red herring.” (release)
