Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) endorsed state Sen. Patrick Colbeck (R) on Wednesday. Cruz called him “a champion of the grassroots” and a “principled leader.” (release)

ALL IN THE FAMILY. Entrepreneur Shri Thanedar (D) released his second TV ad on Tuesday. The spot, narrated by his son Samir, highlights his biography as a single parent and immigrant. (release)

NASSAR NOTICE AND ENGLER ANGLE. Thanedar called on former state Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer (D) to drop out of the race for not pursuing charges against former Michigan State doctor Larry Nassar while she was interim Ingham County prosecutor. (Detroit News)

Former Detroit Health Director Abdul El-Sayed (D): “There are really some big questions about whether she was willing to take a politically difficult stand that would have put a predator behind bars.”

“At a fundraiser in Grand Rapids, she compared herself instead to” former Gov. John Engler (R) “who like Whitmer led his party in the state Senate before running to be the state’s top official.”
