Nine of the 10 Senate Democrats up for reelection in states won by President Trump posted war chests of more than $4 million at the end of the third quarter.
Of the group, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio reported the most in his campaign account at $8.3 million, after raising $2.6 million over the past three months. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who raised $2.9 million, had $7.1 million in cash on hand.
The Trump-state Democrat with the next best fundraising total was Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin at $2.4 million. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia had the lowest haul of the batch, at $900,000, but still reported ending September with $4.1 million to draw from in his relatively inexpensive state.
Democratic challengers also showed strong numbers in Arizona and Nevada, the two top battlegrounds the party is contesting. Rep. Jacky Rosen slightly outraised GOP Sen. Dean Heller in Nevada, pulling in nearly $1.2 million, while Rep. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona brought in $1 million to GOP Sen. Jeff Flake’s $1.1 million.
Despite their fundraising success, no Trump-state Senate Democrat matched the imposing war chest of Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio at this point last cycle, when he had $11.1 million in the bank.
