Former senatorial chief of staff Boyd Matheson (R) “is strongly considering a 2018 challenge to” Sen. Orrin Hatch (R). “Matheson traveled to Washington last week, where he met with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and Citizens United President David Bossie.”

A “prominent conservative who currently runs the Salt Lake City-based Sutherland Institute think tank,” Matheson was a former chief of staff to Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT).

“Matheson made clear that he would not support McConnell as leader.”

“There just hasn’t been a vision,” he said. (Politico)
