Former Doral City Council Member Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera (R) is “seriously considering” a run for retiring Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s (R) open seat. “Rodriguez Aguilera was a council member from 2012 to 2014 when she lost to former councilman Pete Cabrera. She previously worked as the city’s economic development director.” (Miami Herald)

MAKING IT OFFICIAL. State Rep. David Richardson (D) formally announced his run for Congress. “Richardson is Florida’s first-elected openly gay state representative, serving since 2012. A forensic auditor, he is known for his detailed budget analysis, for his work on criminal justice and prison reform, advocacy for gun control laws, promotion of or traditional public schools, and protection of abortion rights.” (Florida Politics)

The Democratic field is already crowded. State Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez (D) and Miami Beach Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez (D) are among those who have declared. On the GOP side, Miami-Dade School Board Member Raquel Regalado (R) and Miami-Dade Commissioner Bruno Barreiro (R) are running.
