Nurse Launches Bid for Denham’s Seat

Re­gistered nurse Dotty Nygard (D) will chal­lenge Rep. Jeff Den­ham (R). “She works in an emer­gency room at Sut­ter Health in Sac­ra­mento and a mem­ber of the in­flu­en­tial, pro­gress­ive Cali­for­nia Nurses Assn. Nygard said she was drawn to the race be­cause of at­tempts to re­peal” and Den­ham’s vote to scrap “the Af­ford­able Care Act.” (Los Angeles Times)

Busi­ness­man Josh Harder (D) is also in the race for the Demo­crat­ic nom­in­a­tion for the dis­trict, which Hil­lary Clin­ton won in 2016.
