Registered nurse Dotty Nygard (D) will challenge Rep. Jeff Denham (R). “She works in an emergency room at Sutter Health in Sacramento and a member of the influential, progressive California Nurses Assn. Nygard said she was drawn to the race because of attempts to repeal” and Denham’s vote to scrap “the Affordable Care Act.” (Los Angeles Times)

Businessman Josh Harder (D) is also in the race for the Democratic nomination for the district, which Hillary Clinton won in 2016.
