“The state Re­pub­lic­an Party, heav­ily sub­sid­ized by” Gov. Bruce Rau­ner (R) “em­barked on a new ad cam­paign por­tray­ing a rap­ping” state Speak­er Mike Madigan (D) “tout­ing his con­trol over the state. The half-minute ad” is “run­ning only on­line now but with state GOP ex­pect­a­tions to run on broad­cast and cable out­lets in the fu­ture.”

Madigan in the ad calls po­ten­tial gubernat­ori­al can­did­ates megadonor J.B. Pritzker (D), Chica­go busi­ness­men Chris Kennedy (D), and state Sen. Andy Man­ar (D) “my boys.” (Chica­go Tribune)
