State Rep. Mark Mickelson (R) was identified as someone who “will be running for the SD Governor spot in 2018” on the invitation for his appearance at the Brown County Republicans’ Reagan Lunch. (Sioux Falls Argus Leader)

Mickelson and state Attorney General Marty Jackley (R) were similarly introduced as candidates for governor at another county Republican Party’s fundraiser in April. Neither has declared, but both are raising money ahead of likely bids to replace Gov. Dennis Daugaard (R) when he is term limited in 2018.
