A wealthy outsider has shaken up the North Dakota governor's race.

Fargo philanthropist and one-time Microsoft executive Doug Burgum announces his intentions to pursue the Republican bid for North Dakota governor on Jan. 14 at a theater in Fargo. The 59-year-old Burgum says he will try to win the nod at the Republican convention, but if that doesn't happen, he will run in the GOP primary.
