“Discussions are ongoing” with businessman Matt Doheny (R) about getting his name off the Independence Party line on the November ballot after losing the Republican nomination, said Essex County GOP Chairman Ron Jackson. To remove his name from the ballot, Doheny would have to be nominated for a judgeship, move out of the state, or die.

“I know that some people have talked to him and I know there’s stuff going on behind the scenes,” Jackson said.

Doheny campaign spokesman David Catalfamo denied those conversations were taking place. (Glen Falls Post-Star)

Doheny’s campaign said there would be a “major announcement” on Friday at 11 a.m. (release)
