Land Says She Favored Auto Bailout

Amid at­tacks from Rep. Gary Peters (D) that she ig­nored the plight of De­troit by op­pos­ing a fed­er­al bail­out of the auto­mot­ive in­dustry, former state Sec­ret­ary of State Terri Lynn Land (R) now claims she was in fa­vor of the meas­ure. “Terri would have sup­por­ted the auto res­cue,” said Land spokes­wo­man Heath­er Swift.

Peters spokes­wo­man Haley Mor­ris re­tor­ted that Land “was one of the politi­cians will­ing to turn her back on the auto in­dustry when Michigan needed her the most. … Politi­cians like Land try to re­write his­tory.” (Oak­land Press)
