The Obama Administration announced on March 13th that the struggling national rail network will receive $1.3 billion in federal funds over the next two years. The money, which is part of President Obama?s $787 billion economic stimulus plan passed by Congress last week, will be used to renovate trains and stations, improve safety, and increase passenger capacity. Over half the funds will go to projects in the Northeastern United States.
