Storytelling Strategies for Purpose, Promotion, and Advocacy

March 1, 2016

Drawing on new Comms Council research on best-in-class advocacy and association storytelling, this two-part session and companion toolkit addresses the disconnect between how we think we’re telling our organization’s story, and how our audiences (both members and policymakers) perceive and receive it. Research highlights strategies, methods, and examples for building a unified organizational culture of storytelling; managing the story collection, production, and sharing processes; crafting more compelling stories; and measuring success.

Part One focuses on:

  • Crystallizing the organization's approach to telling its story
  • Strengthening storytelling culture through smart collaboration

Part Two focuses on:

  • Establishing sustainable story collection processes and relationships
  • Maximizing engagement in shared stories and measuring success

And the Companion Implementation Toolkit offers strategic planning resources, including worksheets, frameworks and individual tools, to guide and enhance an organization's storytelling efforts throughout the full life cycle of a campaign or individual story.
