Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (D-01) met with DSCC officials Thursday, “according to three people with knowledge of the meeting. Three people familiar with Hanabusa’s thinking said it’s very likely she’ll run for” either SEN or GOV “but said she hasn’t made up her mind about which one.” Source: “She’s struggling mightily between governor and Senate and has not made up her mind yet, but should do so shortly. Chances are pretty good that she won’t stay in her current job” (Washington Post).

According to a source, the DSCC will back Sen. Brian Schatz (D) in a primary. A source familiar with the DSCC meeting said “Hanabusa told the DSCC that she would have the backing of former allies” of late Sen. Daniel Inouye (D) “if she ran for Senate and considered a Senate primary easier than a potential primary for governor” (Honolulu Star-Advertiser).
