The DSCC and Senate Majority PAC are spending a combined $1.25 million on TV ads supporting Rep. Ed Markey (D-05). The DSCC is spending at least $750,000, while Senate Majority PAC will spend at least $500,000, according to a source. The Senate Majority PAC spot hits former Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez (R) on Social Security. Attacks on Gomez’s home and taxes are done for the next three weeks. Dems will work to tie him to the national GOP brand; they believe that’s their most effective attack in deep-blue Massachusetts. (Hotline reporting) Meanwhile, Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA) will accompany Markey Friday to meet with Latino small businesses. while DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will host get out the vote events for Markey over the weekend. (Springfield Republican) Gomez got help Thursday from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R), who said it was “absolutely ridiculous” to say Markey is better on national security issues than Gomez. (Boston Herald) Meanwhile, League of Conservation Voters, which is backing Markey, released a Public Policy Polling (D) (IVR) poll (June 3-4; 560 LVs; +/- 4.1%) showing Markey leading Gomez, 47-39%.
