Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) “will appear at a reception for” former state House Speaker Catherine Hanaway (R) Wednesday at the “home of KCP&L executive Chuck Caisley.” Brownback and Hanaway share one major supporter in common - Missouri mega-donor Rex Sinquefield.

Hanaway also has the backing of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R), “who will appear on Nov. 9 in St. Louis for Hanaway.” (Kansas City Star)

AGAINST THE ODDS. Businessman John Brunner (R) “is expected to join the GOP race for governor” on Monday “meaning there’ll be two candidates who have never held public office,” including Brunner and former Navy SEAL Eric Greitens (R). “It’s a trait that nationally has propelled political outsiders … but is historically unpopular in Missouri. … [I]t’s been nearly a century since the last governor — Frederick Dozier Gardner, who ran a coffin business and was elected in 1916 — assumed office straight from the business world.” (AP)

MONEY MATTERS. Greitens over the weekend falsely claimed to have raised more money from Missouri donors than any other GOP candidate, even though Hanaway has so far raised the most money from in-state donors. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
