Edwards Formally Launches Campaign

Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) formally launched his reelection campaign on Tuesday. His campaign released a video detailing economic progress the state has made under his leadership and outlined priorities like increased teacher pay and raising the minimum wage. (release)

OUTSIDE GROUP. American Bridge, a Democratic super PAC, launched a statewide digital ad Friday targeting Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-05) for breaking his promise to donate his congressional salary to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Veterans Independence Fund. After two years of doing so, Abraham said he had to stop due to Congress’s limits on his income from his medical practice. The 30-second ad accuses Abraham of “lying to children with cancer.” (release)
