“Since the current congressional map was approved in 2012, Democrats have outpaced Republicans in new voter gains in eleven of the twelve New Jersey House districts,” the exception being solidly Republican NJ-04 held by Rep. Chris Smith (R). In NJ-11, held by retiring Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R) the Republican advantage has gone from 24,000 to 9,000 and from 30,000 to 11,000 in Rep. Leonard Lance’s (R) NJ-07. Democrats increased their majorities in NJ-02, held by retiring Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R) and Rep. Tom MacArthur’s (R) NJ-03, and have taken the registration lead in Rep. Josh Gottheimer’s (D) NJ-05.
