State Assembly candidate Melissa Fazli (D) released an open letter alleging inappropriate conduct from lottery winner Gil Cisneros (D), a DCCC-backed candidate. In the letter, she alleged Cisneros asked to go to her hotel room at the California Democratic Party Convention in San Diego and suggested a “pay for play” transaction when Fazli solicited a donation from him. “And last night, three other candidates opposing Cisneros -” former Obama administration official Sam Jammal (D), pediatrician Mai Khanh Tran (D) and nonprofit founder Andy Thorburn (D) “- joined in call for an investigation into the incident.”

“Their joint statement: ‘Melissa Fazli’s statement cannot be ignored. As those seeking public office it is our duty to foster an environment in which survivors of sexual misconduct feel safe to share their stories and hold the perpetrators accountable without fear of retribution. Mr. Cisneros cannot continue to brush aside such serious allegations. We call on him to address this issue immediately. Ms. Fazli and voters in California’s 39th district deserve a response.’ DCCC said at deadline it was preparing a response. Stay tuned.” (Politico)
