Businessman Greg Orman (I) Wednesday “announced state Sen. John Doll of Garden City as his running mate. … Doll, 60, will switch his voter registration from Republican to Independent following a speech to supporters in Garden City this morning, and he’s notified Senate Republican Leadership of his decision to leave the party.” (release)

“SHIT SANDWICH.” “Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) and the ACLU fought at a trial Tuesday over a law [requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote] that could affect whether thousands of Kansans will be able to vote this fall. … The trial represents a key moment for Kobach, who is running for governor. A loss in federal court could give his opponents further ammunition. On the other hand, he can tell conservative voters that he mounted a full defense of the law.”

Kobach challenged two witnesses bias, including asking University of Florida if he referred to Kobach as a “shit sandwich.” (Wichita Eagle)
