Evangelical activist Ginny Caligiuri (R) will challenge Rep. Dave Loebsack (D). Her entrance into the race sets up a GOP primary against two-time nominee Christopher Peters (R).

“Caliguiri described herself as ‘a pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-Israel, and pro-Constitution conservative’ who is ‘not a politician and has no plans to become one.’ … Caligiuri is a past bank vice president, and said she would work in Congress to “foster opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses.”

“She has a long history of activism with political prayer and evangelical advocacy groups, serving as the Iowa director for the Congressional Prayer Caucus, the National Governor’s Prayer Team and the U.S. National Prayer Council. She was the organizer statewide Bible reading marathon.” (Des Moines Register)

Loebsack holds a district that Trump won by 4 points. He’s the only Democrat in the Iowa delegation.
