State Sen. Scott Wagner (R), health care consultant Paul Mango (R), and businesswoman Laura Ellsworth (R) met at Harrisburg Area Community College for a debate that quickly turned confrontational.

Mango claimed Wagner supported a bathroom bill that would allow “anyone” to walk into girls’ locker rooms in schools, calling him “a dangerous, ineffective liberal insider just as Tom Wolf is” who is “not keeping our kids safe and secure.”

Wagner rebutted Mango’s accusation, saying the bill he signed was to ban housing and employment discrimination and was unrelated to bathrooms.

Wagner: “This is the best time to call him ‘lying Paul.’”

Ellsworth criticized the back-and-forth, saying she’s “an experienced problem-solver and somebody who has a track record of getting things done, without all of the name-calling and shouting and yelling and finger-pointing and characterization that gets in the way of smart, intelligent governing.” (AP)
