Investment banker Antony Ghee (R) announced Wednesday he will launch a campaign for retiring Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen’s (R) seat. An Army Reserve major, Ghee “enters the race with support from the Essex and Passaic county GOP organizations, setting up a competitive Republican primary. … Until Wednesday,” state Assemblyman Jay Webber (R) “was the only major declared candidate for the GOP nomination.”

His endorsements from county GOP committee chairmen “will likely help Ghee secure favorable ballot placement in those counties.” (New York Observer)
