Native American Attorney to Challenge Yoder

Attorney Sharice Davids (D), who announced her campaign Thursday, “hopes to be [the] first Native American woman elected to Congress if she can win the Democratic primary to take on” Rep. Kevin Yoder (R).

Davids, 37, “grew up in Leavenworth” and is a “member of the Ho-Chunk nation.” She “spent time working as a legal counsel for a development corporation on a reservation in South Dakota before” serving as a White House fellow during President Obama’s final year in office. (Kansas City Star)

There are several other Democrats in the race, including teacher Tom Niermann (D) and attorney Brent Welder (D).
