Sen. Ted Cruz (R) is taking time from his re-election campaign to warn his fellow Republicans about the growing energy on the Democratic side as the midterms approach.

While giving the keynote speech at the Fort Bend County GOP’s Lincoln Reagan Dinner, Cruz made reference to the Democratic reaction in the House gallery during President Trump’s State of the Union and said that it “underscores the political risk in November.”

“Let me tell you right now: The left is going to show up. They will crawl over broken glass in November to vote,” Cruz said.

Cruz is facing a challenge from Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D) who recently outraised Cruz in the fourth quarter of 2017, $2.4 million to $1.9 million.

“It’s true my Democratic opponent is raising a lot of money. We’re not going to take it for granted. That’s a manifestation of the energy on the extreme left,” Cruz said. (Texas Tribune)
