Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker (D) on Thursday the hiring of three new staffers. Communications Director Madeleine Russak previously worked for Engage Cuba and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA). Field and Outreach Director Reggie McKoy previously worked for the DLCC and campaigns for former Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), and former President Obama. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) last week said he wasn’t ready to endorse in the Democratic primary but “liked” Baker and attorney Jim Shea (D).

O’Malley: “Rushern Baker and I worked together very closely when I was governor and he did an actually outstanding job. He and his state’s attorney, Angela Alsobrooks at the time, they achieved some really impressive reductions in violent crime, auto theft, many other things. So he’s a very accomplished, very experienced executive and we would be well-governed with him, with Rushern Baker or Jim Shea, and I would also vote for any of the other Democrats before I would vote for [Gov.] Larry Hogan (R).” (WBAL)

GOOD NEWS. “Hogan, who said he had surgery Saturday to treat a non-life-threatening form of skin cancer, posted on Twitter that he’s defeated cancer a second time.” (Baltimore Sun)
