“Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor (R) is pleading with the Ohio Republican State Central Committee not to issue an endorsement in the race for the gubernatorial nomination against [state] Attorney General Mike DeWine” (R). “The GOP State Central Committee is scheduled to meet Friday in Lewis Center to consider endorsements of candidates ahead of the May 8 primary, with Taylor, DeWine and others scheduled to address the group.”

Taylor in an email to committee members: “I am aware of the push within the State Central Committee to endorse the DeWine/(Jon) Husted ticket in the primary. … For the statewide party to close ranks against one of its own leaders before the people decide would demonstrate a party that is out of touch and send the message that party ‘insiders’ somehow know better than the people they is (sic) supposed to represent.” (Columbus Dispatch)

“The Buckeye Firearms Association on Wednesday endorsed … DeWine … Ohioans for Concealed Carry on Tuesday announced it had endorsed … Taylor.” (Cleveland Plain Dealer)
