Vice President Joe Biden told House Democrats at their retreat Wednesday that he was “absolutely convinced we can back the House” and that he would “spend all the time any of you want me to” in pursuit of that goal. Speaking for 30 minutes, Biden urged Democrats to pursue socially progressive values while also touting a positive economic message: “I’ve never found a single solitary conflict between the two.” Biden gave the keynote address as the issues conference, which was relocated to the Captiol from Cambridge, Maryland because of pending budget negotiations. “Reporters were ushered out after his opening remarks, but Biden stayed for nearly an hour afterward, taking questions from lawmakers. Biden waded into the crowd as he answered questions, walking the aisle like a professor and delivering a ‘master class’ in politics and policy, according to multiple sources in the room.” (Politico)
