State Rep. Clarke Tucker (D) will challenge Rep. French Hill (R) for his Little Rock-based House seat, giving Democrats a huge recruitment win in a tough seat. Tucker recently beat a bout with bladder cancer and said his experience nudged him toward a run.

Tucker: “As I lived through and beat cancer, I watched as Congress voted to make our healthcare more expensive, undo good programs … and strip away healthcare for Arkansans with pre-existing conditions.”

In a statement announcing his campaign, Tucker touted his bipartisan work to improve health care in Arkansas and invest in education. (KARK)

President Trump won the district by 10 points in 2016, and Democrats put it on their 90-district offensive target list early in the cycle. Trump won with just 52 percent of the vote. Tucker is a top recruit for the DCCC and automated polling in the district testing Tucker hinted at a possible run.
