“Vice President Mike Pence appeared in Pittsburgh on Friday to tout the Trump administration’s accomplishments and take a few swipes at” Sen. Bob Casey (D).

Pence “emphasized that Casey … voted against the tax bill and has opposed Trump judicial nominees while Sen. Pat Toomey (R) supported those initiatives.”

Pence: “Bob Casey even voted against giving the Keystone State the power to defund Planned Parenthood. I think the people of Pennsylvania deserve better.” (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)

In a statement, Casey responded: “Pittsburghers have seen this song and dance before from the president and now the vice president—lots of talk, no action.” (release)

ON THE GROUND. Rep. Lou Barletta (R-11), Casey’s likely opponent, won the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee’s regional straw polls at the Southwest and Northwest Caucuses, taking 78 percent of the vote across six regional straw polls. Barletta is now set to receive the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee’s endorsement next weekend. (release)
