Former Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett (R) “will begin airing TV ads Friday … on cable channels across the state, with a broadcast-TV buy slated to begin next week in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids markets, campaign manager Cory Crowley said. In all, the buy will total six figures and run throughout the month of February.

“The spot will come in 30- and 60-second versions which aim to tell the story of Corbett’s tenure as mayor of Cedar Rapids, during which he oversaw the city’s rebuilding from the 2008 flood and recovery from flooding in 2016.” (Des Moines Register)

NO TAKE BACKS. Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) “in November returned a $100 contribution from executive branch appointees Kim and Connie Schmett, saying she disagreed with their side work as foreign agents. The couple collected $100,000 opposing a law to allow victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks to sue Saudi Arabia. But her campaign kept several larger donations linked to the LS2Group, a Des Moines-based firm that received $76,500 from the same Saudi-funded work.” (AP)
