Trucking company executive Jerry Langer (R), who has “close ties to former Gov. Chris Christie is being courted to run for” Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen’s (R) seat. “Langer, who served on Christie’s presidential campaign finance committee and on his gubernatorial transition team, has been mulling a bid for Congress since Frelinghuysen announced his retirement on Monday.”

Former Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno (R) “and Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore are among those who are pushing Langer to run, according to source with knowledge of Guadagno’s recent activities but not authorized to speak on the record. … Langer is a veteran fundraiser and could self-finance part of the campaign. … He was also a major donor to” Sen. Cory Booker’s campaigns and the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. (Politics DW)
