Another Democrat ended his campaign to succeed Gutierrez.

Jan. 31, 2018, 11:13 a.m.

IL-04: “The field to succeed” Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D) “in Congress is now without members of Chicago’s City Council, as” Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez (D) “dropped out of the race Tuesday.” He “said in a statement that he wants to focus on local issues and on getting re-elected in 2019 to a second City Council term. … His announcement came a day after” Chicago Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno (D) “dropped out of the campaign. Now, the field of Democrats is down to three: Cook County Commissioner Jesus ‘Chuy’ Garcia, Logan Square community activist Sol Flores and police Sgt. Richard Gonzalez.” (Chicago Tribune)

MA-03: Former congressional Chief of Staff Lori Trahan (D) got an endorsement from the Local 853, which represents the Professional Firefighters of Lowell. (release) She’s running in the race to replace retiring Rep. Lori Trahan (D).

MA-07: Boston City Councilmember Ayanna Pressley (D), “who became the first woman of color elected to the” council “nine years ago, said Tuesday that she is running against” Rep. Michael Capuano (D) “in the Democratic primary, emerging as the veteran congressman’s most serious challenger since he won the seat in 1998. Pressley’s decision sets up a battle between two outspoken liberals with similar policy positions in the strongly Democratic” district — “a showdown that the 43-year-old Pressley appears keen to fight on generational lines against the 66-year-old Capuano.” (Boston Globe)

Internal polling by the Pressley campaign showed “Capuano has a ‘significant’ lead on a generic Democrat for his re-election, but Pressley’s campaign says when those polled learned more about Pressley, that Capuano’s lead went down to 7 points. There’s also what the campaign described as a ‘huge margin’ of undecided voters, and an 11 percent unfavorable rating for Pressley.” That polling was conducted in December via 677 likely voters. (Politico)

TN-06: Former Rutherford County Chancellor Bob Corlew (R) entered the race for Rep. Diane Black’s (R) open seat. “I am a conservative Christian who believes Tennessee’s value are worth fighting for. President Trump needs folks who will work with him, not against him,” he said in a statement. (Murfreesboro Post)

VA-06: Mike Rubino, President Trump’s Virginia state director, backed state Del. Ben Cline (R) in the race to replace former Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R). (Augusta Free Press)
