Noem stakes out cash lead in South Dakota governor race

Republican Rep. Kristi Noem reported $2.1 million on hand in her bid for the open South Dakota governorship, giving her a cash-on-hand advantage over state Attorney General Marty Jackley‘s reported $1.6 million. Jackley and Noem each raised just over $900,000 last year, but Jackley’s PAC raised an additional $118,000 in 2017.

RGA sends back donations from Wynn

The Republican Governors Association on Monday announced it would return a $100,000 September contribution from Wynn Resorts but said it was unable to return the $2.5 million Wynn gave the GOP group in previous cycles. Amid charges of sexual harassment against Steve Wynn, the RGA also canceled plans to host a 2020 conference at Wynn Las Vegas.

Heitkamp challenger is "90 percent" in

Former North Dakota Republican Party Chairman Gary Emineth said he is “90 percent sure” he will challenge Sen. Heidi Heitkamp and plans to decide on a bid next month, the Associated press reports. Republicans, who already have a candidate in state Sen. Tom Campbell, have struggled to land a top challenger to Heitkamp, after Rep. Kevin Cramer recently passed on a bid.
