CASA in Action endorsed former NAACP President Ben Jealous (D) on Friday. “CASA in Action is the [region’s] largest immigrant rights electoral organization and represents over 96,000 members.”

Board member Teresa Casertano: “In a field of great candidates, our members believe that Ben Jealous is the strongest to win in November and will do so without compromising true progressive values.” (release)

People’s Action, an affiliate of Progressive Maryland, also endorsed Jealous on Friday. (release)

RUNNING MATES. “Whatever the right adjective is for his personality—boring, dorky, bland—[Lt. Gov. Boyd] Rutherford (D), 60, is embracing it and having fun as he and Gov. Larry Hogan (R) make their case for a second term in November. In an otherwise deeply Democratic state, the Hogan-Rutherford ticket will test whether a focus on bread-and-butter issues in a time of bombastic national politics can prevail, even as President Trump makes his own, distinctly different approach central to the GOP brand.” (Washington Post)

Democrats other than Jealous have yet to name a running mate with less than a month before the filing deadline. (Maryland Matters)
