CLF, AAN Raises $66M in 2017

In AZ-02, Lea Marquez Peterson reported raising $215,000 in three weeks.

OUTSIDE GROUPS: The Congressional Leadership Fund and its sister group American Action Network raised $66 million in 2017, the organization’s highest off-year haul. It ended the year with $15 million cash on hand. In comparison, the group raised $7 million in 2015 and ended with $866,000 on hand. (Hotline reporting)

AZ-02: Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Lea Marquez Peterson (R) announced raising more than $215,000 in the three weeks since she entered the race. Rep. Martha McSally (R) is expected to run for Senate. (release)

CA-45: Housing bubble whistleblower Katie Porter (D) reported raising more than $266,000 in the fourth quarter and ended with more than $500,000 on hand for her bid against Rep. Mimi Walters (R). (Politico)

IL-06: Former financial adviser Kelly Mazeski (D) will report raising $680,000 to date for her bid to oust Rep. Peter Roskam (R) and has $510,000 in the bank. (release)

MA-03: Former mayoral Chief of Staff Dan Koh (D) announced raising more than $810,000 in the fourth quarter of 2017, bringing his total raised to more than $1.6 million. His campaign noted “more than half of all donations received in the 4th quarter were under $200.” (release) Koh is running for retiring Rep. Niki Tsongas’ (D) seat.

NJ-03: Former Obama administration official Andy Kim (D) “reports raising $345,000 last quarter, bringing his total for 2017 to about $600,000.” (Politico)

NM-01: Former U.S. Attorney Damon Martinez (D) announced raising more than $157,000 in the fourth quarter for his campaign for Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) seat. His total fundraising for the cycle stands at $368,000 and he ended the year with more than $322,000 cash on hand. (release)

NV-03: Former TV news reporter Michelle Mortensen (R) announced raising $80,000 last quarter for her bid for Rep. Jacky Rosen’s (D) seat. (Ralston Reports)

NY-01: Businessman Perry Gershon (D) has raised more than $1 million for his run against Rep. Lee Zeldin (R), per his campaign, though some of that comes from self-funded. He ended 2017 with $800,000 in the bank. (release)

OH-01: Rabbi Robert Barr (D) announced raising more than $230,000 in the fourth quarter. He annouced his bid to oust Rep. Steve Chabot (R) in October. A spokesman “said Barr will report ending December with $200,000 in the bank.” (Cincinnati Enquirer)

WI-06: Business executive Dan Kohl (D) announced raising $329,000 in the fourth quarter, bringing his total fundraising to $865,000. (release) Kohl is waging a longshot bid to oust Rep. Glenn Grothman (R). (release)

In the wake of Michael Cohen's guilty plea, "the federal prosecutors in Manhattan shifted their attention to what role, if any, Trump Organization executives played in the campaign finance violations, according to people briefed on the matter. Mr. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s self-described fixer, has provided assistance in that inquiry, which is separate from the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III."

"Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former lawyer, should receive a “substantial” prison term of roughly four years, federal prosecutors in New York said on Friday. Mr. Cohen, 52, is to be sentenced in Manhattan for two separate guilty pleas: one for campaign finance violations and financial crimes charged by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, and the other for lying to Congress in the Russia inquiry, filed by Mr. Mueller’s office."
