Rep. Bill Shuster (R) “released a poll early Wednesday morning to show that the nine-term incumbent holds a commanding lead over potential” 2016 challenger Art Halvorson (R), according to a survey by Maverick Opinion, would support Mr. Shuster by a 58-to-17 percent margin. The poll showed that 57 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of Mr. Shuster, while 34 percent have a favorable opinion of Mr. Halvorson, a former Coast Guard officer who has challenged Mr. Shuster three times—and may be looking for another rematch next year.” The survey rested 447 likely GOP voters, but survey dates and margin of error were not immediately provided.

“Wednesday’s release follows a survey put out Dec. 7 by Mr. Halvorson himself. The Halvorson poll, not surprisingly, showed a much closer race, with Mr. Shuster leading by just 38-36—a statistical tie in a poll where 26 percent of voters were unsure.” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
