State Sen. Bob Krist, “in announcing he is running for governor of Nebraska, he said he would also give up party affiliation and register Wednesday afternoon in Omaha as a nonpartisan. It’s the first time he has changed his party registration from Republican during his public life.” (Lincoln Journal-Star)

The state Republican Party quickly accused Krist of “party shopping.” Executive Director Kenny Zoeller: “Clearly Bob Krist has always wanted to use his position as a state senator to run for a higher office, including Congress and Governor. He has flip-flopped so often on what he believes, he hasn’t even been able to choose a party for the ballot.” (release)

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R), and Missouri Governor Eric Greitens (R) will speak at Gov. Pete Ricketts’s 1st Annual Grow Nebraska Steak Fry in Shelton on Oct. 8, Ricketts told supporters Wednesday. (release)
