“In the end, the political aspirations of musician Kid Rock (R) were not laid bare Tuesday night before thousands of screaming fans when the rocker performed the first of six concerts at a new sports arena in Detroit. For much of the summer, the Detroit-area native has teased a Republican run for the U.S. Senate. He continued doing so at the concert but did not say if he would enter the race.” (AP)

UPTON. Republican operatives close to Rep. Fred Upton (R-06) “insist that his interest in the Senate is legitimate and in an unofficial exploratory phase. Upton believes the GOP primary field is weak and that … Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) is vulnerable. Party insiders in Michigan said that Upton and his network of supporters in the state are fanning rumors that he might run for the Senate, as opposed to attempting to tamp them down.” (Washington Examiner)
