Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst (R) has been making gains in “the Chinese immigrant community” primarily through word-of-mouth, forging an “uncommon alliance” for someone “who has no Chinese ancestry, has never visited their homeland and doesn’t speak their native language,” but one that “is paying huge dividends” for his campaign. Roughly 17 percent “of Herbst’s 1,644 contributors are Chinese-American” and they account “for nearly $22,000 of the $148,000 raised through June 30.” (CTPost)
