Busi­ness­man John James (R) is “act­ively con­sid­er­ing a cam­paign for the Sen­ate seat, said Chris Thomas, a friend of James and ven­ture cap­it­al­ist in­vestor who lives in De­troit.” James, the CEO of Renais­sance Glob­al Lo­gist­ics, “is a gradu­ate of the U.S. Mil­it­ary Academy at West Point and an Ir­aq War vet­er­an.”

“James’ sup­port­ers used the Mack­in­ac Policy Con­fer­ence to tout the 36-year-old’s cre­den­tials as a busi­nessper­son with ex­per­i­ence in na­tion­al se­cur­ity.” (Crain’s De­troit Busi­ness)
