Quinnipiac: Perriello Edging Northam

Both Democrats easily dispatch Republicans in hypothetical general-election matchups.

Former Rep. Tom Per­ri­ello (D) led Lt. Gov. Ral­ph Northam (D) 25-20% in a new Quin­nipi­ac Uni­versity poll (April 6-10; 483 Demo­crat­ic RVs; +/-4.5).

In the Re­pub­lic­an primary (435 Re­pub­lic­an RVs; +/-4.7%), former RNC Chair Ed Gillespie (R) led with 28%. Prince Wil­li­am County Su­per­visors Chair­man Corey Stew­art (R) and state Sen. Frank Wag­n­er (R) trailed with 12% and 7%, re­spect­ively.

In hy­po­thet­ic­al gen­er­al-elec­tion match-ups (1,1115 RVs; +/-2.9%), both Demo­crats were ahead of Gillespie. Per­ri­ello topped Gillespie 46-33%, while Northam led Gillespie 44-33%. “Mar­gins are sim­il­ar in oth­er pos­sible match­ups.” (re­lease)
