Former state Democratic Party Chair Andy McGuire “has reportedly hired Maura Tracy as her [2018 gubernatorial] campaign manager and is shooting an announcement video this week.”

Other potential candidates include state Sen. Nate Boulton (D), Davenport City Alderman Mike Matson (D), state Rep. Chris Hall (D), progressive activist Jack Hatch (D), Johnson County Supervisor Mike Carberry (D), and state Sen. Janet Petersen (D).

“That adds to Jonathan Neiderbach, who has already announced, and” state Rep. Todd Prichard (D) and Former state Department of Natural Resources head Rich Leopold (D), who have created exploratory committees.

“Given the dynamics of the emerging field, Iowa Democrats seem to be hurtling toward a McGuire nomination. Not from a groundswell of grassroots support for the former IDP chair, but because it’s looking increasingly likely that she could be the only female candidate in a six or seven-person field.” (Iowa Starting Line)
