EMILY’s List on Wednesday endorsed Govs. Kate Brown (D) of Oregon and Gina Raimondo (D) of Rhode Island. Both are up for reelection to four-year terms in 2018.

EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock in releases praised both women, the only two Democratic female governors, as “inspiration” for female gubernatorial candidates that are pro-abortion rights.

Schriock: “Kate has dedicated her entire career to public service, advocating for middle class families, communities of color, immigrants, refugees, and women. She has expanded voting rights, overseen the passage of anti-discrimination legislation, and protected women’s access to health care.”

“Gina has been a fighter for progressive values and economic security for the people of Rhode Island throughout her remarkable career. She fought to expand funding for Rhode Island’s schools, ensure college affordability for all students, and protect women’s reproductive rights.” (Hotline reporting)
