Sen. Tom Ud­all (D) “said in a state­ment Wed­nes­day that he has de­cided against run­ning for gov­ernor in 2018. The Demo­crat said while he be­lieves he has the ex­per­i­en­ce to gov­ern the state, ‘New Mex­ico will be bet­ter served by my re­main­ing in the United States Sen­ate.’” (Na­tion­al Journ­al)

“With­in hours of Ud­all’s an­nounce­ment,” state At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Hec­tor Bal­der­as’s (D) “camp is­sued a state­ment. ‘The at­tor­ney gen­er­al is ser­i­ously con­sid­er­ing a run for gov­ernor and has deep con­cerns about the fu­ture of our state,’ said Car­oline Buerkle, a spokes­wo­man and polit­ic­al con­sult­ant. Bal­der­as is ex­pec­ted to make a de­term­in­a­tion in the near fu­ture, she said.” (AP)
